Who is Patrick Keane?
Patrick Keane is a traveling snake oil salesman who passes himself off as a comedian and writer. He’s appeared on late night television and a few motion pictures. He was born in the Midwest and split his childhood between there and Southern California. He’s mixed race as his father is white from Michigan and his mother is white from Ohio. After High School in SoCal, a football scholarship took him to Montana where he never played, but was able to parlay it into an exchange program in Kumamoto Japan. After graduation, he worked in shipping in Oakland but lived across the bay in San Francisco. He didn’t have a car so to get to work would take a bus, then BART, then another bus. Co-workers called him, “BART sandwich.”
To get the taste of shipping out of his mouth, he taught English in Korea for a year before getting into stand up comedy in 2000. Since then he’s appeared on the Late Late Show, Live At Gotham, Comics Unleashed, Jimmy Kimmel Live. His film appearances include Role Models, The Living Wake and Beverly Hills Chihuahua Part 2. His work can also be found in his book The Patrick Keane Collection.
You can hear Patrick on his weekly podcast Keane On Things.
When asked what the key to comedy is, Patrick says, “I try not to be funny and that usually works.” In addition to doing comedy, Patrick also does magic and sometimes is able to make comedy completely disappear from the room.
